El conde Federico Tomás de Adlercreutz nació en Finlandia, en el seno de una antigua familia de la nobleza escandinava. Tuvo una educación esmerada y llegó a ser edecán del rey y diplomático sobresaliente. Por problemas financieros se vio obligado a dejar Suecia, su patria, a finales de 1819. Viajó a Londres, donde se enroló en la Legión Irlandesa y una vez en América se integró al ejército Libertador. Adlercreutz permaneció en América cerca de tres décadas, entre 1820 y 1849, y no hay duda que con su presencia se fortalecieron las relaciones de Suecia con las repúblicas suramericanas de Colombia, Venezuela y Ecuador. Esta edición bilingüe se publica el año 2020, cuando se conmemora el Bicentenario de la Independencia de la provincia de Santa Marta, así como los 200 años de la llegada del conde Adlercreutz al Caribe grancolombiano. Así mismo, el año en que la Feria Internacional del Libro de Bogotá FilBo - tiene como invitados especiales a los países nórdicos. 10
