Mateu Orfila i Rotger (1787-1853) es uno de los más famosos toxicólogos de todos los tiempos y su nombre aparece en casi todos los manuales de medicina legal. Dichas fuentes son analizadas desde las perspectivas que ofrecen los nuevos trabajos sobre historia de la medicina forense y las relaciones entre ciencia, justicia y poder.
