El presente poemario es un homenaje póstumo al escritor Juan Miguel Luna. Sus obras, principalmente de temática romántica, están cargadas de pasión y lírica, tendiendo en sus últimos años a rondar ideas más oscuras, surgidas a raíz del diagnóstico de la enfermedad que condicionó su vida. Su hija, Gabriela Tamara Luna, se dio a la tarea de recopilar los poemas presentados en este libro entre viejos papeles y revisiones antiguas hechas por su padre. El trabajo editorial subsecuente consistió en cotejar e integrar el material poético a partir de manuscritos, notas, versiones previas y finales. «En mis manos, una rosa» es, pues, el resultado de un proceso que se originó en la pluma del poeta, pero que fue continuado por otras manos y otros corazones que han trabajado por ver publicada la obra que él creó en vida. 10
